The Full Story

Crossroads Media Services, Inc. was founded in 2005 as a media consulting firm specializing in research, planning, placement and analytics of all types of media and the audiences who use them. The company has since added photography, writing, copy editing, creative and graphic design to its services.

The original logo reflects the path the founder took in leaving the often cutthroat, almighty      dollar-driven advertising agency world knowing there was a better way to conduct business and build strong partnerships with clients. Crossroads Media was the answer…every dollar entrusted to this business is treated as if were our own. We strive to provide each client exceptional service and results no matter the size of the budget.

The 2021 logo update represents the colors of both the founder and the now owner, Michael Shumate coming together to add exceptional creative and graphic design services to the company’s offering.

Michael "Shu" Shumate

Shu’s passion through high school was drafting and architecture but turned to graphics and creative design after he joined the Air Force. An accomplished third generation carpenter, he expressed his creative design talent throughout the years with his woodworking pieces and furniture designs. Shu retired from the Air Force in 2014 after 25 years of faithful, honorable service as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operator (the military’s bomb squad) and settled down in the Yorktown area of Virginia. His graphic design passion was rekindled when he was asked to design shirts and coins for several friends and since then he has been creating and designing like a mad man. Shu and Shannon married in 2019 and in early 2021 they decided to revive Crossroads Media Services, Inc. with an updated look and the addition of Shu’s creative design skills and talent. Shu has three daughters, two dogs and enjoys a variety of hobbies.

Shannon Fedors Shumate

With more than 25 years in the advertising and media industry, Shannon has seen firsthand how the growth and development of digital media and online promotion have changed the world of advertising. Her expertise lies in creating and executing targeted media plans based on data driven strategies that deliver measurable results to support your business growth. Her passion lies in crafting and refining the creative to speak directly to your consumer and showing you the result of your investment through detailed reporting and analytics. Shannon is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has held positions from charter boat deck hand to President/Owner of Crossroads Media Services, Inc. to primary caregiver for her father. She is currently the Director of Marketing for a nonprofit health system. She has three daughters and two dogs through her marriage to Shu, loves photography, salt water and lives by one of her favorite quotes, “there is no present like the time.”
